Each year, National Read Across America Day is celebrated on March 2nd, the birthday of Dr. Seuss.
March 2nd is Dr. Seuss Day, a full twenty-four hours to make a mess with the Cat in the Hat, dance around with the Fox in Sox, hear a Who with Horton, count the red and blue fish, help the Grinch see the error of his ways, and listen to Sam I Am’s friend complain about his dish of green eggs and ham, the ungrateful hairball.
3/13 to 3/17
In our continued effort to support students in their development of stress management and positive thinking skills, we will be celebrating Wellness Week from March 13th to March 17th. To celebrate, listed below you will find the daily activities and events for students and faculty! Mindfulness Monday- Our students will experience a mindfulness-guided meditation provided by the calm application with their classroom teacher. The purpose of this initiative is for our students to continue to practice their stress management skills. Thankful Tuesday- Our students will participate in a fun game where they are able to take a moment to think of specific people, items, and various other categories that they are thankful for. Research states that expressing gratitude helps those to feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships. Wellness Wednesday - Our students will receive a special lesson from Grounded Kids. The program creates a safe space for our students to freely express themselves and learn lifelong practices that intentionally create healthy and positive thoughts, emotions, actions, and habits. Think Positive Thursday- Our students will be on the lookout for positive affirmations posted throughout our hallways to boost their self-esteem and confidence! Feel Good Friday - Our students will experience a 45-minute interactive basketball assembly that supports our school's SEL (Social Emotional Learning) initiatives called HOOPWIZARD. The assembly is an educational basketball entertainment assembly that will continue our efforts to support students in their development of stress management and positive thinking skills.
NED's Mindset Mission
On March 27th our students will experience an IN-PERSON assembly provided by The NED Show!
The show helps children discover the benefits of having a positive mindset. NED’s message inspires students, promotes academic achievement, and supports our school goals. NED's Mindset Mission is a character education program that centers around three important messages that have lifelong relevance:
Never give up, Encourage others and Do your best.
Students Will Learn:
The Power of Yet – If you’re not good at something, it just means you’re not good at it yet
How to spark courage in others
How to keep learning and growing, even when they think they already know something
During the assembly, students will learn about the importance of these three life skills while also enjoying storytelling, magic, humor and yo-yo tricks.
